How did you get started in boxing?
I used to play football and started boxing training to improve my fitness. After a few months I quit the football and trained towards getting my medical.
Describe your first ever bout and how you felt before, during and afterwards.
It was on my club's home show and against a girl who had had seven bouts. I stopped her in the second round, but looking back it wasn't a very good performance - my technique wasn't quite there!
How do people you meet react when you tell them you are a boxer?
A lot of people ask why I chose the sport, being a girl. But most are supportive and show an interest.
What do your friends and relatives think about you boxing?
My relatives are pleased that I have something to keep me busy.
Describe a typical day's training
I run in the morning, cross train or boxing train mid day and run and train from 6-7.30pm
What are your interests outside of boxing?
Running, squash, tennis and swimming.
What do you consider to be your proudest moment in boxing so far?
Going to the European Junior Championships in Bulgaria. Even though I didn't do as well as I'd have liked, it was my first international.
What advice would you give other girls considering taking up boxing?
Train hard - as a girl you have more to prove.
