Rebecca Donnelly
Where do you train?
Gravesham ABC in Northfleet, Kent.
How did you get involved?
I switched from doing Thai boxing - a martial art - to amateur boxing, in 2007
What is your occupation?
I am Programme Development Manager for a charity called London Active Communities. This involves organising and developing a range of activities, programme and events for disadvantaged and hard to reach young people to promote sports, social inclusion and get young people opportunities.
Do you have a message for women and girls starting in boxing?
Enjoy what you do, train hard and you can be and achieve anything.
What does your training involve?
Training four to five times a week. Lots of running. Pad work, footwork, drill working on specific weakness and sparring.
Funniest moment in boxing?
When we went out to Denmark for the box cup we all stayed on mattresses in a classroom and in the night one of the coaches would get up at a stupidly early time and sleepwalk. There are always funny moments but its the guys at the club that make me laugh the most and always pick me up when things get tough.
