Interview by Rebecca Black, Women's Boxing Development Manager
How did you get involved?
I started going to my boxing gym as my mum did the fitness classes there. I was 12 when I joined the junior section and was the only girl. The coaches were great, I never got left out and just had a go at everything the boys did.
What do you like about women's boxing?
It is great to have the female squads to get together and train with other girls. But training without girls at the clubs is good to stay focused.
What do you love about Boxing?
I love training and performing. I feel nervous beforehand. I think to myself why didn't I choose tennis? But then I hear the crowd and feel like a performer. And it is better when you win.
Do you have a message for women and girls starting in Boxing?
It's a great sport. You get to make friends, travel a lot and there is a chance you can represent your country which is the best achievement. Remember it is about hitting, not getting hit!
