Olympic Champions

As part of our future archive and display the ABAE would like to honour each and every Olympic Champion.  Great Britain have won (13) Gold Medals by (12) outstanding athletes.

It is hoped each athlete will have a collection held in the Archive detailing their amateur boxing career brought to life with photographs, mementos, programmes, artifacts.  If you can help please contact the ABAE on archive@abae.org.uk. 

We hope to launch such a collection to coincide with the London 2012 Olympics.

Harry Mallin (1924 Paris) boxed for Eton Manor ABC

  • Reference in newspaper article (B. Benson) lamenting the passing of Mr. John Douglas.  Referred to a lost decision by Mallin against Brousse (French) in the 1924 Olympics in Paris quarter finals .  However over turned by a jury for "biting" lodged not by England ABA but by Sweden ABA!
