What is a Volunteer?
Although there is no legal definition of exactly what a 'volunteer' is, the term volunteering is generally taken to describe where a person freely gives their time to an activity without the expectation of getting paid.
Volunteering is a positive activity, for both the volunteer and the people or organisation that they help and support. As there is no contract between the organisation and the volunteer, either party may terminate the arrangement at any time.
Volunteering roles range from members of the English Boxing Council to club committee members to referees and coaches.
Volunteers are extremely important in the delivery and development of amateur boxing across the country; without you and others like you, the sport would simply not exist!
The time and energy contributed by volunteers assists and assures the future development of amateur boxing. Volunteering roles in amateur boxing include (please note this is not exhaustive):
