Coaching in Schools

The ABAE has introduced standards for coaching in schools and a registration scheme for coaches that wish to coach in schools. All coaches that wish to coach in schools should complete the ABAE Registration to Coach in Schools.  Once coaches have registered the ABAE will be able to provide interested schools with details of local coaches that meet the necessary standards, and will be able to advise registered schools’ coaches of relevant developments and opportunities regarding boxing in schools.

The standards will ensure that coaches of amateur boxing in schools meet standards that are commonplace amongst many sports and that are increasingly expected within schools. They will also reduce unaccredited delivery within schools by deliverers whose sessions do not meet the standards of quality needed to successfully promote and develop the sport.

Coaches may register if they do not currently meet the standards but they must demonstrate a commitment to achieving the necessary standards as soon as possible. By 2011 all coaches coaching Olympic-style non-contact boxing in schools are expected to meet these standards.
