Great results for amateur boxing
ABAE Chairman Keith Walters and ABAE President Richard Caborn have praised amateur boxing's brilliant results in both the Sport England Active People survey and the 2009 European Union Championships.
The Active People survey results for boxing indicate participation is growing at all levels of the sport, while the record medal haul at this weekend's EU Championships in Denmark proves elite boxing is at its best.
Keith Walters, ABA chairman, said: "These outcomes are a direct reflection of the hard work by clubs, athletes, coaches and volunteers within the ABAE. They are an extremely positive sign for the future."
President of the ABAE, Richard Caborn, said that England's excellent EU results were a indicator of the success of the podium and development groups on the elite GB Boxing Programme, and praised the new structure and facilities available to the athletes, as well as the complete support packages they now have at their Sheffield HQ.
