Connor Jones v Jim McDonough

Connor moved away as McDonagh advanced, demonstrating good footwork and throwing lefts and rights to head and body. Some of the contest then became scrappy and few shots landed. In the third round Connor landed clean left and right early on, with McDonagh attacking throughout and trying to counter. 0-0,1-1, 2-2, 5-4 on countback.

Peter McGrail v Stephen Barrett

Both southpaws were busy in the first round, with Peter landing a good left cross and right hook to the head. Barrett attacked but Peter moved, throwing flurries of punches. In the last round Peter speeded up and produced excellent footwork, appearing to counter with a few clear shots. 2-1, 4-3, 5-4.

Muhammad Ali v Gary Keogh

Mo tried to attack both head and body and landed a straight right to the head at the end of round one. He continued this through the second round and in the last round displayed good feet in and out, landing the cleaner shots against a very tight defence. 2-1, 4-2, 4-2.

Sahir Iqbal v Darren Pollock

Both boxers tested with left jabs. There were few clean shots, but Sahir landed a good straight left at the end of round one. Pollock attacked in the second with Sahir trying to catch him coming in. In the final round Sahir threw a number of right hands as his opponent came in. 1-0, 2-0, 4-0.

Ben Bendle v Kurt Bowes

Southpaw Bowes is tall and awkward and is probably the most difficult boxer on the Irish team. Ben tried to practice layback, followed by the right hand, but Bowes had success with left crosses and Ben at times waited a little too long after making his opponent miss. Ben had success with his tactic in the second round, but in the final round tried to lead with a left hook to the head and misses on some occasions. Ben tried good two-handed attacks towards the end but these did not appear to score. 1-3, 3-5, 3-7.

Patrick McCann v David Byrne

Byrne is short and stocky, but there was little action in the first round, except a good straight from Patrick. In the second round Patrick seemed to have warmed up and threw long straight shots to the head, with Byrne not getting the chance to return punches. In the final round Patrick applied more pressure, but Byrne countered with some success. Patrick forced his opponent onto the ropes and threw a combination which included a solid, hurting straight right, which caused the referee to stop the contest. 1-0, 2-3, 3-6 RSC3.

Hassan Mahmood v John Connolly

Team captain Hassan began moving his feet well and landing a good right to the head, which caused a standing count. Connolly came forward continuously and there was much close mauling. Connolly continued to press forward with lefts to the body, but Hassan threw good straight rights and lefts to the head and was hard to catch. 3-0, 6-1, 9-2.

William Lee v Gary Kealy

Will started by throwing good lefts and rights to the head of the shorter southpaw, Kealy. In the second and third rounds Will seemed to ease off, bringing uppercuts into his repertoire. 5-1, 7-1, 13-1.

Alfie Little v Dermot Walsh

Alfie started throwing hooks to head and body with both hands. Walsh's hands were high and tight, forcing Alfie to concentrate on the body. The punches were very hard, causing the referee to stop the contest in the first round. 2-0 RSC1.

Simon Baker v Gerrard Whitehouse

Simon countered with heavy right hands and left hooks to the head and appeared to be in little danger of being hit. The corner retired Whitehouse at very beginning of round two. 2-0 RET2.

Reggie Thrower v Jack Robinson

In the first Reggie landed a couple of good left crosses, but took shots in response. The second round saw few scoring punches and in the last Reggie was too close to his opponent, who landed the cleaner, straighter shots. 1-1, 2-3, 3-7.

Tom Woledge v Saun Higginson

Tom started by throwing fast left jabs, and Higginson replied with two-handed flurries to edge the round. In the second Tom appeared to land a good straight right to the head but the round was scrappy, although Tom appeared to land another straight right at the end of the round. In the last, Higginson proved very elusive and Tom found it difficult to catch him. 1-2, 1-3, 2-3.

Kazeem Mahmood v Bernard McDonagh

Kaz landed good right jabs whilst moving away. McDonagh had a little success with light right crosses. The second round action was similar, with Kaz forcing a little more and landing rights and lefts. The final round was confirmation of Kaz's dominance. 1-1,6-1, 7-1.

Dean Rooney v Michael Harty

In the first two rounds many punches were thrown by both boxers, with few scoring. In the final round, both boxers got very close, making it difficult to identify scoring shots. Dean threw a cluster of punches in the last fifteen seconds, but Harty edged it. 2-1, 3-3, 3-3, 6-7on countback.

Final result: Ireland - 4, England - 10
