Recognition camp brings in the heavies

Walls shook and punch bags took a pounding last weekend at the Rotunda Amateur Boxing Club in Liverpool, when heavyweights from all over England gathered to train under the supervision of Mick Gannon, ABAE National Coach.

The selected boxers were identified by their regional associations as athletes with potential to become international competitors. Mick Gannon was joined by an elite ABA coaching team to put them through their paces.

Mick said: "The weekend was mainly based on skill work and the boxers got a taste of what to expect during a preparation training camp.

"All of the athletes enjoyed the camp and took away some great conditioning routines, techniques and skills to work with back in the gym at home."

Another camp, this time for over 81kg (light heavyweight) takes place this weekend at Rotunda ABC.
