The news from Tammer continues to be all good. Danny Price finished off a great day for the GB squad by beating M'Bumba in the last contest of the day to ensure all 5 team members made it through to tomorrows finals.
Obed MBWAKONGO beat Ahmad AL-TAIMAT (JOR) 13:0
Obed was far too good for his Jordanian opponent and was always in charge with a disciplined performance. Coach Terry Edwards was very pleased with the way Obed controlled the fight with good movement around the ring and strong combinations. He will contest tomorrows final with Babacar Kamara of SwedenObed Mbwakongo v Jussi Jurvanen (Finland)
Danny Price beat John M'Bumba (France) 7-6
Up against the Olympic quarter finalist and world bronze medalist, Danny Price started positively and was 2:0 up at the end of the first round. M'Bumba worked his way back into the contest and took a 2 point advantage into the final round. Coming from behind, Price was able to move up a gear and caught the Frenchman with some solid jabs to edge ahead. The win will give him plenty of confidence going into the final tomorrow.
Luke Campbell Beat Tatsuya Kimura (Japan) RSC
Luke Campbell outclassed his Japanese opponent with a powerful display of boxing. After a quick start he took control of the contest, leading 9:0 at the end of the first. He continued to dominate in the second round and was 18:0 up after 2. Luke unleashed a barrage of strong combinations and punishing body shots at the beginning of the third, resulting in an early 8 count, and when the referee stopped the contest mid-way through the third Luke was 28:0 ahead.
Tom Stalker Beat Berik Kaliyev (Kazakhstan) 13-7
Tom Stalker also made a good start against the mature and very experienced Kazak, who has been in the world's top 10. He took control early mixing it up with good combinations and an effective backhand. From a 4:1 lead after the first, he increased his lead to 7:2 after the second and then 11:4 at the end of the third, running out a 13:7 winner on points.
Andrew Selby (Wales) had a convincing 21:3 win over the Finn, David Agaian and will face Luke Campbell in the semi-final.
Steven Sharoudi (Scotland), leading 7:1 stopped his opponent from the United Arab Emirites in the third round. He will be Tom Stalkers next opponent.
