UK Coaching Framework

.

The ABAE has been confirmed as one of 29 sports which are to be part of the new UK Coaching Framework. This will transform the UK's Coach and Player Development Pathways in the run up to 2012 and beyond. This will mean that Amateur Boxing can now start to benefit from the sort of support for both boxer and coach development to which the other major sports have had access over the last 10 years.

One of the first results is the revision of the ABAE's Coach Education system as Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQ) at Levels 1,2 and 3. All the course materials have now been re-written to conform to the National Standards and the ABAE are now producing a full set of support materials in a resource pack to underpin the levels of coaching, Assistant Coach (Level 1) , Full Coach (Level 2) and Senior Coach (Level 3). Level 4 (Master Coach) is still under review.

Full details of the changes are in the 'Education' page of this site and the ABAE Coaching Commission intends to pilot the first of the new Level 1 courses in August 2008 and the first of the new Level 2 courses in November 2008. The full roll-out of the new Awards will happen in 2009.
