New positions mark the way forward for ABAE
The ABAE welcomes the appointment of two new staff who will positively impact in the areas of club and coach and women's development.
Rebecca Black is the ABAE's first national women's boxing development manager. Rebecca began her career in Stratford as a district sports development officer in 1999, followed by 7 years at Nottinghamshire County Council, as the principal officer for sport and disability.
In her role as the national women's boxing development manager Rebecca will work closely with the national and regional boxing development team in designing, managing and implementing the Whole Sport Plan, driving women's participation in all roles and levels of amateur boxing.
She will develop and meet new targets in relation to female boxing, and looks forwards to promoting women's boxing both on a regional and national level, with particular emphasis on developing grass roots participation through competitive and recreational activity.
Matthew Williams is the ABAE's new national club and coach officer. He will be responsible for the ongoing development of boxing clubs and coaches and his work will include the promotion and delivery of the ABAE Clubmark programme, and the development of a coaching system aligned to the UK Coaching Framework.
Prior to his new role Matthew spent four years as a coach development officer for Sports Coach UK. He also worked as a club and coach development officer for a county sports partnership and as a sports development Officer for a local authority. In addition he is a Sports Coach UK tutor in subjects including mentoring sports coaches, long term athlete development (LTAD) and safeguarding and protecting children.
Matthew says: "I have been a boxing fan for many years and am looking forward to combining my passion for the sport with my experience in sports development to contribute to the continuing success of the ABAE in the years ahead."

The ABAE welcomes Rebecca and Matthew on board.
