House of Commons visit to celebrate boxing achievements
A press launch at the House of Commons this Wednesday will celebrate the tremendous achievements of the Amateur Boxing Association and its athletes.
The event will be attended by ABAE President Richard Caborn, Sports Minister Gerry Sutcliffe, members of the House of Lords and around forty Members of Parliament. It will incorporate a private session with a important parliamentary figure.
It signals the government's recognition of the massive strides the sport has made in terms of increase of clubs, membership, women's participation, income and Olympic qualification.
ABAE Chairman Keith Walters said: "This is a fantastic platform on which to showcase our sport. It the first time the offer of such an opportunity has been extended to amateur boxing, and it is thanks to the work of the clubs, coaches and the national squad that this has been achieved."
