ABA Development Team Meet in Sheffield
March 5th was an important date for the steadily growing ranks of the ABA development team. It was the first opportunity for Matthew Williams (national club and coach officer) and Rebecca Black (national women's boxing development manager) to meet with the team and to set out their early priorities, along with the ABAE's boxing development manager Roger Eady, regional boxing development officers and Andrea Riszko (club coach and Clubmark officer)
Rebecca is busy arranging a serious of meetings around the regions and Mathew will be getting his teeth into the ABA Clubmark programme.
The main purpose of the gathering was an induction course on Clubmark. The course equips the development staff to advise and assess the many boxing clubs up and down the country who are seeking Clubmark accreditation. Clubmark is a quality assurance programme developed by Sport England and now available across the majority of the major sports.
Lydney ABC pioneered the Clubmark programme for boxing and is the first boxing club to receive this prestigious kite-mark. However, now that the development team have received the appropriate training the programme will be rolled out to the English club network and will be headed by Mathew Williams.
Carlisle Villa ABC and the Peacock Gym have already submitted their Folders and the newly qualified Assessors will get down to business and complete their assessment.
All Clubmark information will be displayed on the ABA website soon.
