Redcar ABC entrepeneur visits Downing Street
Boxing Club organiser and social entrepreneur Frankie Wales was at the centre of power last night, when he visited the House of Commons and No 10 Downing Street with his local MP Vera Baird QC. Prime Minister Gordon Brown had invited MPs to bring along local entrepreneurs for a reception at the PM's historical home.

Frankie runs the Coatham Memorial Hall Association, incorporating Redcar Amateur Boxing Club. The venue was derelict in 2000 but the club raised enough money to get it up-and-running as a centre that is now accessible to over 50 community groups, including disabled groups, smoking cessation, and the boxing club.
Over seventy children train in Frankie's gym every evening and Frankie has encouraged them to put something back into the community, hosting band nights and other activities to help the much-loved community asset. The boxers even run the bar and the door at events. "It shows what amateur boxing can do," says Frankie. "But it's not just about boxing; it's about getting kids into the community."
