First AIBA President Cup

.

The First AIBA President Cup took place from May 25-31 in Taipei, Taiwan, the home of AIBA President Dr Ching-Kuo Wu.

And GB Olympic prospect Bradley Saunders gave his chances in Beijing a boost when he sailed past Smaila Mahaman (Cameroon) 25:11, world bronze medalist Masatsugu Kawachi (Japan) 16:5 and Olympic gold medalist Manus Boonjumnong (Thailand) (Rtd 4) to the finals, where he beat Zambia's Bwalya Hastings with a convincing 11:9.

Team mate Joe Murray was unlucky, having been withdrawn in his first session - against Korean Jang Kwan-sick - due to a knee injury. 

The event was an opportunity to gather together many of the best boxers from around the world in action for the last time prior to the Olympic Games. 

The tournament, created in honour of the AIBA President who is successfully reforming the sport of boxing.
A total of 126 boxers competed across 11 weight categories at the Hsinchuang Stadium Taipei County.
