VI European Union Elite Championships day 2
Day two started in the same way that day one finished, with 81kg GB Olympian Tony 'Jaffa' Jeffries scoring a sensational knockout with a body shot after 55 seconds against the young Polish boxer Damian Kosmider. He now goes forward in to the semi finals on Thursday against the Hungarian Imre Szello who beat the World silver medallist from Croatia, Mariojo Sivolija.
'Fabulous' Frankie Gavin marched forward in to the semi finals after successfully defeating the rangy southpaw Viaceslaw Korber from Germany. Frankie was in control from the start and dictated all four rounds with pace and experience. Having taken the first round 4 : 0 he extended the gap to 7 : 2 in the second, before taking his lead to 10 : 4 at the end of the third. Despite his classy experienced opponent he convincingly won the bout 14 : 5. He now faces the local favourite Marcin Legowski in the semi finals on Thursday.
Billy 'The Kid' Saunders continued his success from last night by beating Spaniard Mariano Hilario within the distance. Billy Joe was in devastating form, forcing two standing counts in the second round. He continued to display his superior boxing skills and power, despite his young age, outclassing the Spaniard and forcing a stoppage in the third round 20 : 0. He now faces experienced Frenchman Xavier Noel in Thursday's semi final.
