Lydney ABC are accredited!
Lydney Amateur Boxing Club held a launch of their Clubmark scheme this week.
The club, in the Forest of Dean, is the first amateur boxing club to become accredited and ABAE Chairman Keith Walters met with representatives from Lydney, including club chairman Dominic Seldis, on Monday 18th February. ABAE Boxing Development Manager Roger Eady, who has been working closely with the club towards their accreditation, was also at the presentation.

The ABAE has become one of over 22 national governing bodies delivering Clubmark accreditation, and Lydney have set a precedent for other clubs that wish to benefit from the scheme.
ABOUT CLUBMARK
Clubmark was introduced in 2002 by Sport England to:
Ensure that accrediting partners apply core common criteria to ensure that consistent good practice and minimum operating standards are delivered through all club development and accreditation schemes.
Empower parent(s)/carer(s) when choosing a club for their children.
Ensure that Clubmark accredited clubs are recognised through a common approach to branding.
Provide a focus around which all organisations involved in sport can come together to support good practice in sports clubs working with children and young people.
Clubmark accreditation is awarded to clubs that comply with minimum operating standards in four areas:
The playing programme
Duty of care and child protection
Sports equity and ethics
Club management
More information about Clubmark, as well as a resource pack and all the details your club needs to apply will be available for download on the ABAE website on March 10th 2008
