Team Managers Report
The team assembled at Heathrow airport, Terminal 2 on Sunday 20th July at 3pm. A very smart looking team of England boxers in their National tracksuits proceeded through to departures and on to Belgrade in Serbia via Frankfurt, Germany with Lufthansa Airlines. It was a comfortable flight with the lads receiving a snack on the plane which they thoroughly enjoyed. We arrived in Belgrade, slightly delayed at 11.45pm where we were met by our hosts and driven in a mini bus to Novi Sad which is about a 90 minute drive away.
The team stayed at Brankolo Kovo which is a university hostel along with the other boxing nations in this tournament. The boxers went off to bed rather late after a long day at 2am with the prospect of a 7am wake up call for a check weight. The lads responded superbly in the morning and were all up and ready to go. All of their weights were spot on and after the 8am weigh in and medical we had the draw at 11am. Thankfully only two of our boxers, Ryan Fillingham and Franky Smith had to box in the first prelims later in the afternoon.
