Billy Joe Saunders booked his place in the next round, where he will face top Cuban Carlos Banteaux - after treating world bronze medallist Adem Kilicci to a boxing masterclass on his Olympic debut at the Workers' Stadium.

The end result was 14-3 to the Hatfield boxer, who at 19 is the youngest member of the squad.

Bradley Saunders rounded off a great day for British boxing, when he provided the first knockout of the tournament, flooring Ghanaian Samuel Kotey after only 84 seconds of the first round.

GB head coach Terry Edwards, who celebrated his birthday this weekend, couldn't have wished for a better present. This is Terry's third Olympic Games and the first time Britain has been represented by a boxing team of this size.
