Whitehawk ABC show report
Gary Emins' excellent Whitehawk ABC hosted a sell-out dinner show at the newly opened Holiday Inn on Brighton seafront.
The pick of the home action was an impressive first round demolition by light heavyweight John Pema of Keystones Adnan Parvez. Pema - the self proclaimed "Warmaster" - came storming out at the sound of the opening bell and attacked his Sussex opponent relentlessly, nailing him with some huge looping right hand which put Parvez over, a follow up flurry prompted referee Rees Hopcroft to intervene, on this form Pema would prove a handful for most.
The host secured two further victories with another light heavy Parvis Shahzi outpointing Hastings West Hills' Steven Garlick in a bruising encounter and light welterweight Alex Dilmaghani completing the West Hill double by outpointing the capable Kellen Leimetter in another absorbing battle.
Hailsham's double Golden Gloves champion Frankie Smith picked up the Boxer of the Night trophy for a dominating performance, gaining revenge over Aycliffe's Daniel Canmore. The pair first met last season in the European Championship box-off in Sheffield and on that occasion Canmore edged out a below par Smith, but the Hailsham boxer was in no mood to make such a mistake again as he used his boxing ability to dominate his former conqueror.
Hailsham's debutant Steve Canning upset the home crowd in unanimously outpointing the hosts' middleweight Scott Hillman, the much busier Cannings forced the pace throughout and forced two counts in the last round to seal a solid win.
Adur again showed excellent form with three wins from three, the pick being Ben Taylor's impressive points win over Aycliffe's Jamie Letten. Conceding significant height the Sussex boxer slipped and countered well after a slow start to take a good win, as did senior welter Ashley Wright in his defeat of ATHA's Terry Freeman in another entertaining tussle.
The only four twos of the evening saw Hastings West Hill's Ben White drop a unanimous decision to Golden Ring's accurate Greg Evens, Evens' jab in particular was impressive and he found White a little to easy to catch at times.
