Western Counties women's squad training day
Western Counties have been running regular monthly women's squad training sessions since March 2007, when regional coach Kevin Hay took up his position. One year on and the numbers are increasing all the time.

The latest squad session was on March 16th at Broadplain, Bristol. Women's Boxing Development Manager Rebecca Black attended and nineteen boxers took part, assisted by advanced coach Les Brooking, women's coach Michelle Garland and assistant Lisa Stacey.
The morning session consisted of partner work and drills, followed by tempo work on the hitting equipment prior to lunch. During lunch the boxers watched a coaching DVD.
The afternoon session consisted of sparring for the carded boxers and the non-carded boxers were taken on pads to work on technique. After the sparring the boxers were split into teams and completed a fun team circuit. After flexibility work and a team talk the session was complete.
Regional Coach Kevin Hay is very pleased with the way the squads are progressing. He said: "It's good to see all the boxers getting together and mixing. At first, some of them were a bit apprehensive, but you can see them growing in confidence all the time."
The next squad training session will be on April the 13th
