The first bout featured English and British University Novice featherweight champion James Connor against J Kemkaren at 58kg. Kemkaren looked the physically stronger man but Connor used speed and technique to gain a unanimous victory against his durable opponent. James Connor was also awarded the trophy for best boxer of the night by the officials. 1 - 0 to Portsmouth

Next up was the only female bout of the evening, Portsmouth's Hannah Harding against Helen Hughes from Met Police. Both girls had been trained well in the basic skills of boxing, and with their stance, guard, defence and basic punch repertoire, they gave a good account of themselves. Towards the end of the second round Helen Hughes' fitness and determination started to give her the edge. Helen continued her good work throughout the third round with Hannah chasing an ever increasing task. Helen Hughes took a unanimous points victory 1 - 1 All level

Next up was James Bossom from Portsmouth against A Todd from Met Police. This bout looked interesting from the start, with Todd standing an incredible 6ft 2 and weighing 61kg. As the bout commenced James Bossom came out with fire in his stomach, Todd was on the ropes, taking a couple of vicious shots that forced a standing count from the referee. This did not phase Todd much, and he remained composed and started to release his long rangy attacks, picking points at any opportunity. The bout continued to sway and neither corner knew who would get the win. James Bossom took the victory on a close majority points decision - a very good bout. 2 - 1 to Portsmouth

Mick O'Sullivan took on Met Police welterweight S Bahnoot in an entertaining bout with two short, stocky aggressive boxers. Mick used patience and precise punching to slow down the bout, not wasting any shots whilst biding his time aiming for victory. Unfortunately Bahnoot injured his wrist in the second round and was retired by his corner. 3 - 1 to Portsmouth

Jimmy Potter was next up, against M Baah from the Met Police. Baah, who hung his front hand very low, was forcing the pace, trying to take Jimmy out of his stride and land with combinations. Jimmy held his patience and landed precise jabs throughout the bout as the ever aggressive Baah advanced. A unanimous victory to Jimmy's Jab 4 - 1 to Portsmouth

"As the boxers advanced to the ring you could see the eyes widen on the crowd's faces."

The final clash between these two teams was at heavyweight bout between George Georgakakis and A Crane of Met Police. As these two boxers advanced to the ring you could see the eyes widen on the crowd's faces. George is a well built six foot muscular fellow and Crane is exactly like his name, standing a staggering 6ft 4. George came out swinging and was obviously running on pure emotion as boxing technique went out of the window. I must give credit to Crane, who stayed focused and used good boxing skills to land some telling shots whilst under such a barrage of wild punches. In the second round Crane landed a couple of looping uppercuts, lifting George's head with a snap. The referee stepped in and stopped the bout. 4 - 2 to Portsmouth

Coach's Comment: "I was very happy with the whole evening and hopefully we will make this an annual match, I wish to thank Paul Barrie from the Metropolitan Police for travelling down and the way his boxers held them selves, not just in the ring but in the after event activities."
