McGuigan tells Athens team "I'll be rooting for you"
Barry McGuigan is among sportsmen and women who have sent their support to the GB team in Athens as they make their final push to qualify for the Olympic Games this summer.
"The Clones Cyclone" - no stranger to the kind of pressure the GB team will be facing this week - joined fans Jessica Ennis and the AFC Wimbledon team in giving the boxers his support.
"I would like to wish all the boxers on the amateur team attending the third and final Olympic qualifier for European oxers the very best of luck," said Barry. "This has been the best result the UK has had in years - not surprising with the amount of talent and the level of commitment the boxers have been putting into their training as well as the excellent coaching that the lads are receiving.
Danny Price, David Price and Stephen Smith have been unlucky not to have qualified already, though I'm quite sure they will get through at this the last hurdle. Darran Langley and Stephen Simmons also have an excellent chance of getting through. I want the lads to know that I'll be rooting for them, good luck boys and give it everything you got."
