Latest results from Athens - Price through to semis

.

David Price showed his mettle with an RSCO 20pts against Alen Berganovic of Montenegro. Long straight punches and a couple of big body shots took Price through to Friday's semi finals, where he'll box Romanian Cristian Ciocan for Olympic qualification.

Price said: I started tense, looking for my big shot. When I relaxed and jabbed I found my rhythm. The right hand then followed and then I boxed well."

Terry Edwards said: "Great performance. He's been tense, plenty of pressure on him after what happened at the Worlds and Pescara. Twice he's got to a position to qualify. He did well again tonight."

57kg Stephen Smith beat Valentine Morozovs (Romania) 19-9

Stephen will now box Alessio Di Savino of Italy on Friday for his Olympic place.

Stephen said: "I'm  not there yet. I've been one bout away twice. I'm not going to let anyone take this away from me."

Terry Edwards called the bout "A quality performance against a quality opponent."

48kg Darran Langley lost 14-10 to Jose Nieve (Spain)

Disappointment for the Hollington ABC boxer, who saw his dreams of qualifying for Beijing quashed after losing to quality Spanish opponent Nieve.

Nieve was too quick and sharp for Darran, who chased both his opponent and the score throughout the contest.

A dejected Langley said: "I boxed terribly. I beat the best lad here on day one, I don't know what happened."

An equally disappointed Terry Edwards commented: "The Spaniard is a good boxer, it wasn't to be."
