World champion unveils CCDP revamp at Salisbury

.

This week the first major Community Club Development Programme funding project was launched following the completion of the extension to the Salisbury Boxing Club.

This project was a joint funding initiative between the Sport England (DCMS), CCDP and Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, which was jointly accessed to deliver a beacon club facility for the North West counties. The Salisbury ABC facility will now support the North West counties ABA provision for coach education programmes, North West counties squads and England talent identification squads.

Louise Ellman, MP for Liverpool Riverside, said: "This joint initiative to support the most successful amateur boxing club in England for the last decade is the result of a partnership between Sport England and Neighbourhood Renewal funding, which will deliver real outcomes in terms of further access and delivering a broad agenda of health-related and sporting opportunities.

The undefeated WBU World Featherweight Champion Derry Matthews added: "As a former boxer with this wonderful club and organisation I received the benefits of a dedicated administration and coaching team through Salisbury ABC, who are unsurpassed in terms of champions. This new extension and refurbishment will offer the club and the community even more opportunities to deliver recreationally, as well as with competitive achievements."
