Ending the season in style

.

Two Western amateur boxing clubs are uniting to end the season with what they expect to be another mighty contest.

The National Smelting Co 'Smelters' and Empire ABC are due to stage the last amateur show of the season on Saturday the 30th of June at The BAWA club in Bristol. Their last venture was a huge knockout, with huge demand for tickets.

NSC's Head Coach Garry Cave says, "We're really excited by this one after the Bradley Stoke Show in February, which was a 17 bout sell-out. We're looking forward to yet another fantastic night of top class amateur boxing. There's plenty of local prospects on the show with NSC's Junior Western Counties Champs Reece Godfrey and Josh Connolly plus Empire's senior Ashley Belcher, national finalists Sayed Ali and Danny Roberts all hoping to strike back with wins after just losing out in the ABA finals."

A female senior bout between two of the top girls in the country will also take place, with ABA champions Janie Brashill of Brighton and Sarah Alderman of London's Rosehill ABC showing the boys a thing or two.

"Putting a show on of this size isn't for the faint hearted," says Garry. "We have two grand's worth of expenses to cover before we make anything for the clubs, so if there are companies willing to sponsor a bout we'd be very grateful, as would the many local kids you'd be helping out".

Smelters have another long weekend training camp for 20 boxers planned for the school holidays at London's new Cityboxer gym.

Venue: BAWA Club, Southmead Road, Filton, Bristol, BS34 7RG.

Doors open at 7pm with first bell at 8pm sharp.

Tickets:  £10 Adult £5 Junior, available from the BAWA Tel. 0117 987 3244 or Garry Cave Tel. 07876 233621.
