'Outstanding effort' from Four Nations team

.

Head coach Mick Gannon has praised the efforts of the team representing England at the Four Nations tournament in France last weekend. The team, which consisted of relative novices to international boxing, 'weren't intimidated' by the quality of their opponents, according to Mick. 'They were absolutely outstanding.'

Seventeen year old Kallum De'ath gave a gallant performance in a friendly box-off against German Olympic bronze medallist Ruslam Rahimov on Saturday. 'They were all eager to box again the following day,' said Mick. 'In the end we secured bouts for Kallum, Tom Stalker and Martin Stead. Stead faced the European number eight and it was a wonderful bout. They should all be applauded.'

He added, 'They went in against the best in the world, they weren't intimidated and, most importantly it was a great learning experience.'
