UK Coaching Summit
The ABAE played a full part in the second annual UK Coaching Summit at Grantham on 17th and 18th April. All the national governing bodies of sport, the Home Countries Sports Councils and UKSport, together with the Sector Skills Council for sport SkillsActiveUK signed up to the new UK Coaching Framework.
The summit was launched by Minister for Sport Richard Caborn. SportscoachUK CEO Dr Pat Duffy has the responsibility for taking this work forward in partnership with the Sports Councils and the Governing Bodies. The ABAE has signed up to play its part in implementing the Framework and will start by developing the sport's Coaching Courses to fit with the UK Coaching Certificate.
The fact that the ABAE are now fully committed to this work will start to unlock funding and support which has been denied to us in the past. We are now in a position to take amateur boxing on to the next level and start to punch our weight among the leading sports in the UK.
