New England National Head Coach appointed

ABAE is delighted to announce the appointment of Mick Gannon as England National Head Coach.

Mick has an impressive history of involvement in amateur boxing. He started boxing aged seven, taking his first bout at age eleven and his last aged 28, with over 200 bouts in between. During his 25 years with the army, he boxed his way around the world, spending 12 years as coach, training members of the army boxing team to achieve in Commonwealth, World and Olympic tournaments. 

In 1987, Mick was awarded the British Empire Medal on the Queen's Birthday Honours list. He prepared teams for the World Police and Fire Games and has travelled extensively throughout America and Russia. He played an important part in selecting inner city boxers to compete for the Police and Community Clubs of Great Britain before spending the past two seasons as chief coach of the national women's team. He recently took the team to Ireland where they boxed in their first full international tournament.

Mick's experience and expertise will prove invaluable in his new role and we wish him the best of luck.
