JOB DESCRIPTION

The growth and expansion of amateur boxing in both the women's boxing and education sector has created a new opportunity for a National Women's Boxing and Education Sector Manager.

This role will directly support the national and regional ABAE Boxing Development Officers with the strategic delivery of the ABAE's Whole Sport Plan (WSP), primarily geared towards women's participation and education. Our aim is for ABAE to implement further positive outcomes for women and further increase partnerships with schools, higher and further education.

This new post is viewed as an opportunity to expand upon the excellent progress made and the IOC's decision to include women's boxing as an Olympic sport for the London 2012 Olympics, whilst also developing further opportunities within the education sector as key targets.

THE ROLE 

  • Working closely with the ABAE Head of Development and regional Boxing Development Officers in delivering and driving the Whole Sport Plan to increase women's participation in all roles and at all levels of amateur boxing and whilst expanding amateur boxing's success and profile.
  •  

  • Ensure targets through boxing development policies, programmes, partnerships and outcomes are propagated throughout regions of the ABAE, geared towards women's and education opportunities for both male and female participation in all roles and levels of amateur boxing.
  •  

  • Increase the number of boxing opportunities in local authority, regional community sports partnerships through the education sector.
  •  

  • Assist in the development and implementation of regional boxing development plans geared towards the national delivery system of the WSP for women, the education sector and the outcomes required.
  •  

  • Particular emphasis to be placed on expanding women's grass roots participation be it through competitive or recreational activity in any environment or facilities in the private, public or the education sector.
  •  

  • The role requires a skilled and enthusiastic National Women's Boxing and Education Sector Manager who has already established respect and credibility within sport, who must also have a proven track record of strategic and focused delivery outcomes.

THE PERSON

  •  

  • An understanding/knowledge of the sport's/NGB's contribution to PESSYP/education sector.
  •  

  • Substantial experience of developing and delivering highly effective strategies and outcomes.
  •  

  • Exceptional people management and development skills.
  •  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  •  

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  •  

  • Proven financial and project management acumen.
  •  

  • Proven skills as a mentor and facilitator.
  •  

  • Must be enthusiastic and motivated, working to strict timelines for delivery and reporting in a concise and structured manner.
  •  

  • Must be committed to continuous personal development.
  •  

  • Knowledge of the barriers and potential solutions that women face in sports where they are under represented.

This is a role which can be fulfilled from the national headquarters of the ABAE and a mixture of home-based working, but may involve irregular hours and extensive travel.
