Junior World Championships
The first ever Junior World Championships were held in the Japanese City of Yokohama in 1979. They had been scheduled to be held in the Romanian City of Bucharest. The first championships were for 'Under 19 Years' across 11 weights. It was referred to as the 'Levis Cup'. The schedule ran from the 7th December through to the 17th December. The Cubans did not enter.
